There are times in our lives when God strings together a most unusual set of circumstances to really get our attention to learn a critical life lesson, form a new habit, or change our life course. I call these ATTENTION GRABBERS. On June 9, 2008 I experienced an EXTRAORDINARY attention grabber. My meeting with Dr. Mark Virkler changed my life and life coarse forever. Mark is one of the leaders in the world teaching how to hear God’s voice.

In his email to me dated December 15, 2010 a friend wrote “Be expecting a powerful surprise this week. Just remember, in business it’s not always about whether you know someone. Often it Is about value that was created, or trust that leads to action.” Yesterday (December 16), I received a special gift in the mail from Bruce – Sacred Time, Sacred Place: A Journal – by Patricia King. This morning after listening to my entire scheduled playlist for Day #17 on my iPod in bed, I came to my “Sacred Place” to journal using this gift from Bruce. Wow! What transpired was amazing. This was a GAME CHANGER in my life.

I’m sure you have written a love letter back when you were young, or wrote a sympathetic poem, both males and females. There is something about clearly putting down your feelings on paper that makes them more concrete and understandable/manageable by you. The same is true with your lifelong relationship with God. When you take time out to just sit down and focus on the ‘Great I AM’, and the reality of who He is to you expands your comprehensiveness. Do this on a regular basis, and you will be amazed at how much deeper and more real your understanding and your connection to the Lord will be.

LORD, teach me what it means to seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness first. Randy, “whenever you lack clarity” as to what to say or do, get alone with Me, quiet your mind, read My Word, and write down what you hear. That is seeking My Kingdom and righteousness first. Confusion is never from Me. Connect to Me – I AM the Vine. Fruitfulness is My state of being. It will be yours too as long as you stay connected to Me.

Online journaling definitely helps you do a much better job at following through with your commitments as long as you take the time to review your journal entries regularly. How often should you review your journal? My suggestion is once a week. on the same day each week. I personally prefer to review the past week and plan for the ucpoming week on Sunday mornings, my day of Sabbath rest. Reviewing my written daily goals from the prior week helps me notice commitments I made but failed to follow through with. This gives me a second chance by holding me accountable to some degree.

Prayer is a habit like journaling. If you journal regularly and include prayer as a routine part of that, you will pray and get better at it. I guarantee it. Prayer doesn’t happen on the run.

A third reason to journal is it helps you remember what God has done when you write it down. Over and over again in the Bible, God told His people, “Remember!”

Most of us can list excuses why we don’t lead effectively, just as Moses did. When God called him, he instantly thought of five reasons why he couldn’t lead. What’s your excuse?

The Journal is a powerful journaling and writing tool that can help you take control of your life. – today’s Link of the Day
