Maui got me up at 5:25 am. After feeding her and letting her outside briefly, I came to my Sacred Place (sunroom) to journal using my brand new “Sacred Time, Sacred Place: A Journal” for the first time. This was an UNCOMMON gift I received in the mail from Bruce (Cook) yesterday. The mail lady managed to deliver our mail despite the 4-5″ of new snow.

In his email to me dated December 15, Bruce wrote “BE expecting a powerful surprise this week! Just remember, in business it’s not always about whether you know someone. Often it Is about value that was created, or trust that leads to action.”

I began my quiet time in my Sacred Place by reading Patricia King’s introduction to her “Sacred Time, Sacred Place” journal. I happened to open to a page that said “In Memory of Oral Roberts!” That immediately grabbed my attention. Then I read the key scripture – Song of Solomon 2:14

O My dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret pace of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form, let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet, and your form is lovely.

Next, I read “A Divine Appointment With Oral Roberts.” Patricia wrote,

“Three months before Dr. Oral Roberts went to be with the Lord, I had the privilege of being with him in his home. Prior to his departure to glory, he invited a number of ministers from around the world into his private quarters to pray over them. During this time he allowed each to ask a question. I desired to know how he had maintained his devotion time in the midst of many years of leading large mandates and assignments from the Lord. Another guest asked the question before it was my turn and I will never forget his answer.

He called his daily time with the Lord his Sacred Time. He explained that when he went into his prayer closet no one was allowed to interrupt him – including his wife and children. Everyone in his family and ministry respected this sacred time – his time alone with God. No phone calls, no visits, no questions, and today we could say, no internet! He informed us that when God spoke to him in his Sacred Time, he obeyed immediately. He stated, “God never had to speak twice to me. When he spoke, I obeyed.” He pursued the Lord with an undivided heart and with full belief that God would speak with him just as He spoke with Moses – face-to-face as a man speaks to his friend.

The enormous fruitfulness of Dr. Oral Roberts’ worldwide ministry was clearly a result of the God encounters and visitation of grace he experienced in his uninterrupted and undisturbed Sacred Time and Sacred Place.”

Next I read “How To Have A Fruitful Devotional Time With Jesus!” This was so good. I especially liked Patricia’s simple teaching about “What to do in a devotional time?” One of the things that jumped out at me was this, “Make a list of things that distract. Somethings in the midst of your devotion time you might receive some distracting thoughts such as, “Oh, I better remember to pay that bill later and email a friend.” Keep a small notepad available, and write those things down so you do not have to think on them again until after your devotion time is over.”

Finally, I read her “One Year Bible Reading Plan.” The Holy Spirit then prompted me to start with Day #1, so I read out loud Genesis 1-2 and Matthew 1 in the Maxwell Leadership Bible declaring and decreeing God’s Word. As I read John Maxwell’s introduction to Genesis, I realized the book of Genesis has 50 chapters. The number 50 is very significant. As I read these 3 chapters in the Bible, these scriptures stood out

Genesis 2:24-25 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

Joseph heard God and obeyed.

I then hand wrote this very first two-way prayer in my “Sacred Time, Sacred Place” journal.

Wow Jesus! My spirit is jumping for joy. Thank you for laying out the entire sequence of steps that were necessary to lead Bruce to sow this UNCOMMON seed – Sacred Time, Sacred Place: A Journal” into my life. Thank You for this morning’s rich abiding time. To You, I give all glory, honor, and praise. Blessed be Your holy name.

Thank You Joseph for your obedience. Your past has not been wasted. Your choices and decisions have led you to this turning point. Today, I lay before you life and death, blessings, and curses. Therefore, CHOOSE LIFE. Choose Me. What you were missing was your Sacred Place. Even your Sacred Time was not sacred. Today you begin a new life in Me, with Me, and through Me. Today you move from the natural to the SUPERNATURAL.

Delight yourself in Me and I will give you the desires of your heart. What are your desires?

Thank you for asking Jesus!

We have a living God, a speaking God! One who loves us, His children, and He particularly loves to speak to us! He can speak to any one of us who love Him.

“In the Last Days I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17).

You might be thinking, “I read the Bible every day, so I’m hearing from the Lord every day.” While it’s good to read the Bible, the recorded Word of the Lord, which is the foundation of our Christian faith, it’s wonderful to also hear straight from the Lord and “take heed to His sure word of prophecy, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in our hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

His Word says to “Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6). So, every day should be a new experience for us, a new listening to the Voice of the Lord. Why live only on yesterday�s spiritual food, when we can have fresh “manna from Heaven” (John 6:58) every day? Jesus still speaks today! Listen to what He told me on June 15, 2008:

I have the KEYS – simple keys to BREAKTHROUGH. It’s not complicated. You have to trust me on this. Just keep writing down what You hear me saying. I know what works and what doesn’t. I am the Alpha and Omega, so I see the end from the beginning. I have to show You before you can show others. What you shared at Soul Purpose Church today was good. Even though it seems that most people didn’t get it, seeds were planted. You have a generous heart. What you’re doing in secret, I will reward openly. That’s My word – that’s My promise.

On the morning of February 16, I listened to the entire book of 2 Corinthians. As you may recall from yesterday’s post, I had read all of 1 Corinthians the morning before.

In the afternoon on Feb 16, I participated in the weekly Marching Through Culpeper prayer call. That was awesome.

After some opening discussion, Virginia Morton led our national team in prayer as usual. Wow! So powerful.

When Virginia was finished praying, Nancy Slocum shared that as Virginia was praying she saw a vision with lots of money raining down from heaven. Nancy then read her recent WFJ message which resonated so favorably with my spirit.

Then Rick Heeren shared a message from his latest book “The Stone That Was Cut Without Hands.” Another powerful message.

Virginia then asked me to pray, which I did. Then Bob Sims prayed each of us would spend more and more time praying and in reflection.

In his prayer near the end of the call, Rod Stone thanked God for the way he felt the Spirit of God move so powerfully on the call.

Nancy said that right after I prayed, she saw the wind blowing in the trees. It brought to her mind the scripture about the mulberry trees.

2Sa 5:23-25 Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. “And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

1Ch 14:14-17 Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. “And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.

Bob then explained the significance of these scriptures and what God did through David’s continual obedience.

After the group prayer was over and while a few of us were chatting at the end, Virginia talked about the total power of the Word of God, whether we read it, speak it, or express it any other way. God ALWAYS honors His Word.

One of my goals for this year is to publish God’s entire written Word as audio to inspire and enlighten you – to light a fire of desire in you to know God more intimately and to make Him known around the world.

Today was another historical day of taking a stand for the WFJ GLOBAL MOVEMENT. Team destiny hosted their final of three WFJ (Words From Jesus) webinars in December 2009 called “The Miracle of Christmas.”

Dr. Joseph Peck served as the global connector and host of this webinar. The guest panelists were: Deb Smith, Richard Mayhan, Bertha Hinson, and me, Abigail Slocum. Clearly the Holy Spirit took control of the webinar before it ever started and never let go!

He began by waking me up at 3:22 AM to give me this prophetic word – WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST! It was His way of orchestrating the whole focus for the discussion. These are the questions we covered:

WFJ: THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST!

Take the tour of the Word and be free in Christ. CHRISTMAS IS A SEASON FOR MIRACLES BUT EVERY DAY IS A MIRACLE IN CHRIST! TO BE IN CHRIST IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL.

SALVATION IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL. It is God�s free gift to all mankind. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved (have eternal life).(John 3:16).

What is so miraculous is that SALVATION IS THE “GREAT EXCHANGE!” MAN GIVES GOD HIS IMPERFECT, BROKEN, SINFUL LIFE IN EXCHANGE FOR A PERFECT (COMPLETE) LIFE IN CHRIST. JESUS GIVES HIS ALL FOR OUR ALL!

When you receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD – THE CANDLE OF MAN, comes into your heart to show you the most excellent way of all to live. IT IS THE WAY OF LOVE BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE.

In this “GREAT EXCHANGE,” your old sinful man dies and the new man comes alive in Christ. CHRIST LIVES THROUGH YOU to live the perfect will of God which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17).

Unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is your inheritance as a born again child of God. IT IS A LIFE OF VICTORY AND TOTAL PROVISION. To be one with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is to be free from every bondage of sin and to be free to experience the fullness and abundance of life in Christ Jesus. JESUS IS THE DOOR TO FREEDOM AND TOTAL FULFILLMENT.

Jesus� arms are open wide and ALL THAT BELONGS TO THE FATHER OF LIGHTS IS YOURS WHEN YOU SAY “YES” TO JESUS who is the express image and likeness of God, and His Kingdom of Love becomes yours!

IT IS A SUPERNATURAL GIFT OF DIVINE INFUSION AND PROPORTION AND IS THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL! Become one with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. ALLOW THE PRINCE OF PEACE TO RULE IN YOUR HEART FOREVERMORE, for God set eternity in the heart of man. He loves YOU so much and nothing will ever separate YOU from His love.

LET THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD LIGHT YOUR PATH AND BE A BEACON OF HOPE TO ALL MANKIND. THE KING OF GLORY HAS CHOSEN AND MADE A WAY TO TAKE UP RESIDENCE IN YOUR HEART AND BE YOUR KING AND PRINCE OF PEACE. SAY YES TO HIM AND THE KINGDOM IS YOURS!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. The Redeemer wants to take all of you in your imperfection and transform you into the likeness of Christ. RECEIVE THE GREATEST GIFT KNOWN TO MANKIND AND LIVE “THE GREAT ADVENTURE” IN CHRIST. NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO THIS INDECSRIBABLE GIFT OF PURE AND PERFECT LOVE. It is greater than anything you ever wanted for Christmas for it is the desire of your heart. RECEIVE GOD�S GIFT AND SPEND THE REST OF YOUR NATURAL LIFE AND ETERNITY UNWRAPPING JESUS, GOD�S GIFT OF HIMSELF WHO IS PERFECT LOVE. THERE IS NO END TO LOVE. REJOICE AND BE AT PEACE. IMMANUEL HAS COME!

RECEIVE ALL OF THE GREATEST MIRACLE WHO EVER WAS OR IS TO COME! Let Christ have free reign in your heart and become His walking talking miracle and witness to all mankind. Your light has come. BE GLORIFIED IN HIS ETERNAL PRESENCE.

I LOVE YOU, MY CHILD. BE MADE WHOLE. ENTER THE JOY OF THE LORD. MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE PERFECT LOVER OF YOUR SOUL! BE SATISFIED IN ME. I AM YOUR FULFILLMENT AND HEART�S DESIRE. SHALOM.

Prayer Power

If you don�t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please say this prayer out loud from your heart and you shall be saved and come into God’s Kingdom of Love.

Father God, I believe in my heart that you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross for me. I believe Jesus paid my sin debt in full. It was a debt I could not repay and it was a debt Jesus did not owe. Thank You, Jesus. I accept your perfect gift and sacrifice. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Baptize me in the power of your Holy Spirit and I will serve you all the days of my life! I am saved! I am free! Thank you, in Jesus name. Amen.

May you allow the God of all hope and the Prince of Peace to rule in your heart this day and forevermore. May this truly be your most significant Christmas ever as the FULLNESS of the gift of God’s LOVE FOR YOU, becomes an everyday reality in your life!

Jesus, thank You for another good night’s sleep. Thank You for waking me up early this morning with your clear message to email Carrie Stone to gift her with Your Christmas present, her best ever. Thank You for prompting me to then write an email to Virginia Morton to bless her with a spiritual mother – Bertha. Wow! Thank You for an awesome day yesterday. Thank You for the spiritual breakthroughs. Thank You for this wonderful habit of 2-way journaling. Thank You for the simplicity in my life. Thank You that you are re-ordering my steps to bring extreme order and simplicity back to my life. Thank You for the reminder that “Less is more!” Thank You for leading me to order the book “The Power of Less.”

Here are thoughts that came to my mind this morning. Please help me process those in proper order.

When preparing your presentation, make sure you have specific answers to these seven critical teleseminar interview questions.

1) WHY is [TOPIC] so important for our listeners to achieve greater success?

2) WHAT is [TOPIC] by definition?

3) HOW do your students typically get started with [TOPIC] on a step-by-step basis? [If you are going to give steps on how to get started, Alex recommends using 5-9 steps (7 +- 2)]

4) WHAT IF any of our listeners got started today with [TOPIC] – what would their life look like in say, 30 days? 90 days? 1 year? How about 3 years?

5) What are the specific ROADBLOCKS that typically prevent your students from getting started? [What are the roadblocks getting the way? Every door has a lock. Every lock has a key. Mention 3]

6) What are the specific STRATEGIES that are like keys to unlock “roadblock doors” to achieve WILD success? [Not just any success, but wild success. Each roadblock has a strategy to it.]

7) What’s the first PHYSICAL ACTION STEP you’d want a listener to take to get started with [TOPIC]? [Alex likes to call continuing education is education]

The first 4 questions come from David Colb, the next 2 from Dan Sullivan, and the last one from David Allen.

You have the WHY learner, the WHAT learner, the HOW learner, and the What IF learner. Be sure to ask and answer these questions in this order.

LORD, teach me what it means to seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness first.

Randy, “whenever you lack clarity” as to what to say or do, get alone with Me, quiet your mind, read My Word, and write down what you hear. That is seeking My Kingdom and righteousness first. Confusion is never from Me. Connect to Me – I AM the Vine. Fruitfulness is My state of being. It will be yours too as long as you stay connected to Me.

Randy, I AM the source of breakthrough. Prayer and praise open the gateway to heaven. I have wanted you to spend much more time praying for hurting people like you used to. I AM bringing you back closer. Working harder is not the answer. It never has been. Abiding in Me always has. I love you with an everlasting love. I AM – I AM the God of the present – always here for you.

Pr 23:4-5 Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

Joh 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Randy, thank you for pressing in. My love, My grace is sufficient. Peace be with you. My peace is with you. Rest in Me. Rest in Me! Get it – REST. I was never in a hurry. I don’t want you to be either.

Now Rest. Stop writing. Close your eyes. Picture being with Me at the Sea of Galilee. Just you and Me – friends.

Write Ben and Renato to ask for their forgiveness in making them feel like they couldn’t have access to you. Do I ever restrict access to Me? Of course not. So why should you do otherwise?

Randy, I want you to to start a class with Renato called “Words From Jesus!” Start in December. Let your friends and followers experience Me in a new way this Christmas.

Randy, let’s go for a walk around the lake. Do you see the mother with her little boy? She has nothing to give her son this Christmas, but you can reach out to help. Go talk to them. Listen to them. Bring them My peace, My hope. OK now tell them about Me. They can’t see Me yet, but you can. Tell them about Me. Tell them how much I love them. They need to know someone loves them.

5) GET ORGANIZED

In his book “The Total Money Makeover,” Dave Ramsey writes, “You can get anywhere if you simply go one step at a time” The way you eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Find something to do and do that with vigor until it is complete; then and only then do you move to the next step. If you try to do everything at once, you will fail.

The power of FOCUS is what causes our baby steps to work. When you try to do everything at once, progress can be very slow… Because you attack several areas at once, you don’t finish anything you start for a long time. That makes you feel that you aren’t accomplishing anything, which is very dangerous” The power of focus is that it works. Things happen” The power of priority causes the baby steps to work.

Brian Tracy, a motivational speaker, says “What does it take to succeed on a big scale? A tremendous God-given talent? Inherited wealth? A decade of postgraduate education? Connections? Fortunately, for most of us, what it takes it something very simple and accessible: clear, written goals.” According to Brian Tracy, a study of Harvard graduates found that after two years, the 3 percent who had written goals achieved more financially than the other 97 percent combined!”

6) Keep Your Commitments

Letting your “Yes” be “Yes” and your “No,” “No” is extremely important. Every time you fail to honor your word, it takes away the power behind your spoken word. You lose credibility.

Like many of you, I have trouble saying “No.” As a result, I find myself over-committed. It’s easy to justify this wrong behavior by saying I’m meeting the needs of those around me. But God doesn’t ask or require us to meet everyone’s needs.

When you’re late for a meeting or appointment, even a few minutes late, that’s failing to keep your word. Often it’s easy to justify why that happens, but an excuse is just that – an excuse. Rarely are we late because of circumstances outside of our control.

When I journal using the “Yesterday…” method, I list both highlights and low points for each day. By reflecting on the low points, I notice character flaws in me that need prayer and work to overcome.

I have a few very simple gauges that let me know if I’m too busy. Being late is one of them. Another is not taking care of my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit. Failing to exercise at least 5 days per week is a bad sign. As I complete this book, I am being most convicted by this particular section. This is an area I must work hard at to improve at.

When you change your thinking, you will change your life!

If your life was compared to a train, how fast would you say that train is going?
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the level of stress in your life?
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your energy level?

Journaling helps you slow down your RPM’s – that’s a guarantee. That leads to REST, which in turn allows REFLECTION. Reflection leads to character transformation and a contemplative life. For those born again of the Spirit of God, that leads to REVELATION from God. Together rest, reflection and revelation, form the tri-cord of LEVERAGE. And leverage equals speed. It’s being able to get a lot more done with much less effort for God’s sake.

Most people in America live unexamined lives. Their pace of life is so fast that they don’t have time to catch or notice the blessings that God drops down from heaven every day. They fail to appreciate the precious gift of every day of life and God’s precious creation surrounding them.

The Bible emphasizes over and over and over again the importance of having a thankful heart and praising God in all circumstances. God created us as human beings, not as human doings. You who labor and are heavy leaden, STOP working so hard and come to Jesus NOW. He give you the rest you sorely need and deserve. Jesus will also help carry your burden as you become equally yoked to Him. That’s power – God’s POWER.

Your diamonds are in your backyard. Put another way, God has already provided ALL the resources you need to do what He is asking you to do today. “When the student is ready, the Master (Coach) appears.”

On June 19, 2008, while my wife and I were driving 6.5 hours from Culpeper, Virginia to Glenridge, New Jersey, we listened to a CD discussing health and wellness. That CD discussed the importance of anti-oxidants to combat the damaging effects of free radicals. Stress increases free radicals in your body which in turn cause a whole host of medical problems, including atherosclerosis (heart disease, strokes) and cancer. Your body needs rest – every week, nearly every day. Your body also needs regular exercise.

You and I are not the answer to the world’s problems. Jesus is! However, in Christ, with Christ, and through Christ, we can collectively change lives and disciple nations. What else matters? What is your role in the Body of Christ?
