Feed My Sheep

Prayer Power (Thurs, Jan 19, 2012)

REST: I went to bed at ~ 10:15 pm exhausted, fell asleep in about 10 minutes, and slept like a baby until Maui, my God alarm clock, got me up at 5:38 am.

After feeding Maui and letting her outside briefly, I decided to go to my desk to journal. I wanted to have my two-way conversation with Jesus. I was prompted to start my morning by listening to my scheduled iTunes playlist for Day #19 (The Old Rugged Cross, Psalm 91-95, Proverbs 19, Acts 19), to get back to what I used to love and that worked.

Thank You for another precious night of good sleep in a warm comfortable bed next to Julia. Thank You for this wonderful habit of journaling and for knowing how to hear Your voice, which allows me to follow you.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:27-28)

Thank You Joseph for being in My flow. It’s in My presence that true peace is found. It’s in My presence that divine ideas are birthed. It’s in My presence that you experience the love of the Father to share with others. Your Sacred Time in the Sacred Place is critical for your growth and success. Don’t let the hurries of the world overwhelm you. Rather, rest in Me, abide in Me, love Me, cherish Me. I AM your all-in-all. I AM sufficient. I AM grace. I AM love. I AM truth.

Joseph, you have learned the secret of quieting your mind, fixing your eyes on Me, tuning to spontaneity, and journaling to hear My voice. I want You to teach others. Start your UJFDD membership class. Meet weekly for 30-45 minutes weekly. Share what you are experiencing each week and the breakthroughs that others are experiencing. You know your sweet spot – coaching others to hear My voice in small groups and large groups. You can apply this in the smaller MMM group as well as with a much larger group. Trust Me. People are hungry to hear from Me like You have learned. People are hungry for INTIMACY with the Father. That’s what Betsy Smith talked about in her devotional at the Culpeper Ministerial Association. Your habit of journaling helps maintain that intimacy. Even the password of your journal software declares that.

When you sent the email on January 2 inviting people to your UJFDD class, you had more than 80 people register for that webinar despite just a 12 hour notice. Rick Larie is singing the praises of your journaling. I’ve been prompting you to post your journal entries at Journal777 for months. When you do that you always feel good. Releasing what you are hearing from Me inspires others to learn to do likewise. Renato’s blog flourished when he was sharing his two-way messages consistently. Then he allowed himself to get busy and no longer made that a priority. In your ProsperNow777 course, the theme was “Feed My sheep.” People were very excited about that at first, but they dropped off when they were no longer closely connected with you. You can inspired others to share their stories and ideas via blogs, but you must stay connected to them. START. START. START.

OK, Jesus, I hear you. Thank You for your encouragement.

He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.” (John 21:17)

OK, Jesus, I get it. I’ll start today. I’ll post this message at Journal777 now and then prepare my email to promote tonight’s webinar with Lisa Rae Preston. Thank You for this previous time together. Thank You for your inspiration and illumination. Thank You for being my Source. Thank You for being my Light and my Salvation.

Keep yourselves from idols!

REST: I went to bed at 9:15 pm after watching Survivor. I listened to my WWAB starting with Luke 7 and fell asleep quickly. I woke up at 4:25 am to use the bathroom and came back to bed. Maui got me up at 4:45 am.

ABIDE: After feeding Maui and letting her outside briefly, I took communion and then went to my Sacred Place for my Sacred Time. I stopped and sat on the basement stairs to read the Ten Commandments on the large wall poster. Three of the first four commandments stood out for me:

Ex 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
Ex 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image.”
Ex 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

Then I read the Introduction to 1 John and then 1 John 1-5 (all) in my FCA (NIV) Bible. These scriptures stood out for me:

1 John 1:5b – This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 2:3 – Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
1 John 2:15 – Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:22 – Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 3:6 – Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
1 John 3:9 – Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
1 John 3:16 – By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John 3:17-18 – But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
1 John 4:1-3 – Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
1 John 4:7 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:16b – And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1 John 5:1 – Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
1 John 5:7 – For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
1 John 5:11-12 – And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:13-15 – These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
1 John 5:21 – Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Jesus, thank You for another good night’s sleep in a warm, comfortable bed. Thank You for our cars and the roof over our heads. Thank You for the ability to read and a Bible to read. Thank You for my craving for pure spiritual milk. I commit this day to You. Help me to focus on what’s most important to You and Your kingdom. Help me to intentionally tune into you every 15-30 minutes. I desperately want You to be the Navigator for my Life.

Joseph, thank you for spending this special time with Me. Thank You for quieting your mind, fixing your eyes on Me, tuning to spontaneity, and journaling. Every time you do those 4 things, be assured you will hear from Me. THE KEY to great success and much fruitfulness is simple – staying connected to the Vine – allowing Me to be the Navigator for your life. Look no further. Just practice what you know. Leave the results in My hands.

My weekly Breakthrough Life Coaching call was outstanding. Robbie’s question about when I go to bed really hit a nerve after I realized I have not been recording my REST about 30% of the time. After our conversation, I was prompted to go through my journal and record how much rest I had each day in October and November. I realize that monitoring my rest closely is something that is very important for me to track on a monthly basis.

The Greatest Awakening

This morning I had my weekly breakthrough life coaching call with my son. It’s interesting how the Holy Spirit led us to spend the bulk of our time discussing emergency preparedness with the recent earthquake and looming Hurricane Irene.

After I reminded my son that we may experience the most powerful earthquakes in history around Sept 26-27 when Planet X (Nibiru) passes between the earth and the sun, he asked me to send him the relevant links. I sent him that email and later received an insightful email from a prophetic leader in Virginia. That prompted me to share these links with you.

4) Here is a video of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu speaking to our US Congress earlier this year about the issue of dividing up Israel.

It’s very interesting that the United Nations is scheduled to convene on Sept 20, 2011, 6 days before Planet X aligns with the earth and sun again, The UN will be voting about dividing up Israel and welcoming the State of Palestine as a member whose territory includes all of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. A decision to divide Israel will bring rapid and severe judgment in terms of both natural and economic disasters.

I believe Father God is giving us warnings to prepare us, not scare us.

It’s interesting that Culpeper Virginia has at least two major events scheduled to teach people about emergency preparedness in early September.

My son suggested to me this morning that we establish an emergency preparedness plan for our family, which my wife agreed is a good idea.

This coming Sunday (August 7, 2011), Soul Purpose Church is having an audition for the Worship Arts team. And, yes, I’m going to try out. I”m a passionate worshipper of the one true God – of Jesus. As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs for Him.

The Story Behind The Story: Heart of Worship

Song Story: Matt Redman’s “The Heart of Worship”

Check the liner notes of almost any modern worship recording, and the name Matt Redman is likely to be among the songwriting credits. Artists and assemblies regularly perform “Let My Words Be Few” (Phillips, Craig & Dean), “Better Is One Day” (Rebecca St. James, Petra), and perhaps most of all, “The Heart of Worship” (Michael W. Smith, Sonic Flood, Passion), a beautifully simple, acoustic confessional ballad. Still, as prolific as these works make him, he says the story behind “The Heart of Worship” in particular is a personal reminder that, “I’m just a little songwriter—and a pretty foolish one at that!”

The song dates back to the late 1990s, born from a period of apathy within Matt’s home church, Soul Survivor, in Watford, England. Despite the country’s overall contribution to the current worship revival, Redman’s congregation was struggling to find meaning in its musical outpouring at the time.

“There was a dynamic missing, so the pastor did a pretty brave thing,” he recalls. “He decided to get rid of the sound system and band for a season, and we gathered together with just our voices. His point was that we’d lost our way in worship, and the way to get back to the heart would be to strip everything away.”

Reminding his church family to be producers in worship, not just consumers, the pastor, Mike Pilavachi, asked, “When you come through the doors on a Sunday, what are you bringing as your offering to God?”

Matt says the question initially led to some embarrassing silence, but eventually people broke into a cappella songs and heartfelt prayers, encountering God in a fresh way.

“Before long, we reintroduced the musicians and sound system, as we’d gained a new perspective that worship is all about Jesus, and He commands a response in the depths of our souls no matter what the circumstance and setting. ‘The Heart of Worship’ simply describes what occurred.”

Redman remembers writing the song quickly in his bedroom soon after the church’s journey together, with no grand intentions, by any means, for it to become an international anthem. He viewed the words simply as his personal, subjective response to what he was learning about worship.

But when Matt shared “The Heart of Worship” with Pilavachi, the pastor suggested making a few small adjustments to the lyrics so any member of the church could relate to it as well.

Amazed by how God has since taken the song around the world for His purposes, the songwriter smiles in regard to his own lack of foresight. “It nearly didn’t go any further than my bedroom. But I love that…”

The trademark tune soon became the title track for Matt Redman’s 1999 album, The Heart of Worship. The recording process was consistent with the artist’s sensitive approach to being in the studio.

“We decided to not get all complicated, and just let the song ‘breathe.’ We’re always trying to create more of a church atmosphere in the studio rather than just a technical musical gathering. Something happens when the people of God gather together and play out the praises of God in the presence of God. Hopefully something of that passion and purpose transcends beyond that studio room onto the recordings themselves.”

Following Matt’s original release, which featured a guest vocal appearance by Martin Smith, lead singer of Delirious, “The Heart of Worship” became a new standard of the modern worship music movement, sung by fellow artists, choirs, and church families alike. Among the ever-rising number of reinterpretations, Redman is especially fond of Michael W. Smith’s from his 2001 classic, Worship.

“I honestly like them all,” he admits. “It’s a great encouragement when people take the songs and run with them. Perhaps my favorite is Michael’s – maybe because it’s a live version and therefore really captures and conveys the heart of the song’s theme.”

Even more encouraging, he says, is when other pastors get in touch to let Matt know how God has used the song to take their congregations through a situation similar to the one his church experienced.

As teachable as “The Heart of Worship” has become, Matt Redman continues to learn about true worship and will journey further into that heart in summer 2004 with a new album, Facedown.

“It’s such a biblical posture in worship that speaks of reverence. If you look through the Bible, there’s a whole host of people who faced up to the glory of God and found themselves facedown in worship. So the album weaves through a theme of reverence, wonder, and mystery in worship, things I feel we really need to grasp more of in our worship expressions. I know that I do!”

What to Write in a Journal

Jim Rohn was the master of the journal. “If you’re serious about becoming a wealthy, powerful, sophisticated, healthy, influential, cultured and unique individual—keep a journal. Don’t trust your memory. When you listen to something valuable, write it down,” Rohn said. As such, a journal can be many things to many people. Here are a few ideas for how to use a journal:

Keep a tally of your daily ‘wins’ or accomplishments.
Keep notes on an ongoing problem you’re facing.
Write down ideas. The Magic of Thinking Big author David J. Schwartz writes, “Every day, lots of good ideas are born only to die quickly because they aren’t nailed to paper.”
Maintain your lifelong goal file. Writing down your aspirations in a journal helps build a file so that you can review your ideas over and over.
Keep a to-do list for big projects. Day-to-day tasks can be scheduled in Outlook, but larger-scale projects are perfect for recording in a journal.
Jot down inspirational quotes and why they impact you.
Keep a dream journal bedside.
Handwrite important facts, statistics or phone numbers to help cement them in your mind.
Tear out a page and write a note to someone important in your life.

On January 1, 2011, I posted a message at Journal777 titled “#WFJ: Be faithful (committed) to this new habit.” In that I wrote:

My key word for 2011 is COMMITMENT
My key scripture is “Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no’!” (James 5:12).
My prayer for this new year is simple – “Help me to honor (pray to) You morning, noon, and night each day like Daniel did. Help me to abide in You in a deep and rich way daily that I might bear much fruit for the Kingdom and Your glory.“

Well, how have I done with this so far in 2011 after 3 months. I’d give myself a “3″ and that might even be generous.

Out of financial desperation, I keep moving on to the next thing before catching up with prior commitments. I’m robbing Peter to give to Paul. This is not OK.

On February 27, Pastor Matt Gregory had Darren preach in his place at Soul Purpose Church. Darren preached a great message titled “The Road To Restoration” using Luke 15:11-24 as the key scripture – the story of the Prodigal Son.

Luke 15:11-24 – Then He (Jesus) said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”‘ And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; ‘for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.”

Darren said every one of us has been in the “far country.” It’s easy to be judgmental.

Jeremiah 2:11-13 – Has a nation changed its gods, which are not gods? But My people have changed their Glory For what does not profit. Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid; Be very desolate,” says the LORD. For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns-broken cisterns that can hold no water.“

Darren went on to share three key words on your road to restoration

1) RECOGNIZE the far country is not where we are meant to be
2) REPENT – turn around and face God (Psalm 51:17)
3) RETURN to the place we were designed to be, with our Father

Psalm 51:17 – The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart - These, O God, You will not despise.

Brokenness precedes blessing! Well, I’m there. One of the favorite stories I have ever read is The Story of Bamboo by Renato Amato. In his message, Renato wrote

The famous evangelist, Paul Rader, was once asked: “Why are the laborers always so few?” He replied: “They can’t seem to be broken fast enough, and God can only use truly broken men and women!”

The writing continued: “How true! God only uses broken men and women, no others will do! Others are too self-confident in their own strength! God has to break them, melt them and mold them again in the hands of the Potter to make them better vessels! But He won’t force it! The breaking depends upon you, your yieldingness and willingness to be made willing, total humility, which is synonymous with total love, so you’re willing to go anywhere, anytime, and do anything, for anybody, and be nobody, to please Him and help others!”

Sin is not trivial. Sin is treason against God.

Psalm 103:8-14 – The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

Condemnation will remind you of what you’ve done!
God will always remind you of what you can become!

On Tuesday March 29, I received an email from Nancy Slocum stating, “Good morning Joseph, I always read these prophecy bulletins in the morning and they always seem to be right on target! Immediately when I read it, I was impressed of the Lord to forward it to you. Blessings and have a fruitful day! // SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by Marsha Burns: Resist the temptation to take on more than you can effectively handle. Any over-extension could deplete your resources physically, emotionally, financially or spiritually. Exercise sound judgment when making choices, and you would do well to be conservative. The enemy would love to stretch you beyond your abilities. If you need wisdom ask Me and I will give you the guidance you need, says the Lord. // James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

At 5 am on Saturday April 2, I went to pray from 5-6 am at SPC during their 24 hours of prayer. When I got there, Doris Gatewood and Tara Martin were there. Some amazing things happened during this time.

God birthed the desire in my heart to start the “How To Hear God Speak” series for those interested at SPC and beyond during the Easter season.
GIVING: After Doris Gatewood prayed, Holy Spirit prompted me to gift a WWAB to her.
After I was prompted to pray Psalm 91 out loud, Tara told me that Psalm has been the main thing God has her focused on this year.
While praying initially, I thanked God for His promise to never leave nor forsake us. Then after Tara and Doris prayed, I was prompted to read out loud Joshua 1, starting with verse 5 – “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”
The key scripture for Saturday April 2 was Joshua 1:5-9 – “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

This morning while journaling, the LORD told me my key message for 2011 is Nancy’s straw she sent me.

The keyword for me today, this week, and this month is ORDER. I am to bring order to my desk, order to my commitments, order to my decision making.

Prayer Power
O God, I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I confess that I’ve been working too hard, that I’ve failed to keep prior commitments before making new ones, that I’ve been robbing Peter to give to Paul. I acknowledge that I desperately need Your help to change my ways. I choose to turn around and face You. I choose LIFE. I choose to run home to You. I ask You to forgive me and choose to forgive myself. You’re my all-in-all. Nothing else and no one eles will do. I lay all the messes I’ve made at the foot of the cross. I choose LIFE. This Book of the Law shall not depart from my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. Thank You for Your unconditional love and forgiveness! Amen and Hallelujah!

New Horizons Of Opportunities

There are times in our lives when God strings together a most unusual set of circumstances to really get our attention to learn a critical life lesson, form a new habit, or change our life coarse. I call these ATTENTION GRABBERS. Let me share an example of an EXTRAORDINARY attention grabber.

On the night of Sunday June 8, 2008 I went to bed around midnight and chose not to set my PDA alarm. I woke up around 6:25 AM the next morning (June 9) to use the bathroom and then lay in bed for about 10 minutes resting and reflecting before finally getting up. When I got up, I immediately came to my office, knelt down, and prayed. After that, I began journaling on my computer.

The first thing I was prompted to do was write a message titled “Are you seeking BREAKTHROUGHS in your life?” to send to my Your Daily Blessing followers in two days (on March 11). The key scripture I had chosen was Habakkuk 2:2 – Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.”

Next, Holy Spirit prompted me to help Dr. Jerry Graham prepare a Daily Gram (e-blast) for him to send to his 800 or so followers on Wed June 11 about the introductory journaling webinars (“UNCOMMON Journaling for Breakthroughs”) we were promoting together. The purpose of those was to spark interest in the 5-week UNCOMMON Journaling For DESTINY online coaching program we were launching live on June 17 and 18.

When I accessed Jerry’s Constant Contact (email marketing) account to post the message I had prepared, I discovered to my surprise that Jerry had already prepared an outstanding message titled “Journaling as Communion with God” using the exact same scripture verse I had chosen – Habakkuk 2:2.

In his message (upcoming email), Jerry mentioned that the two of us were teaming up to do a 5-week, 35-day on-line course in journaling (UNCOMMON Journaling For Destiny) with a special emphasis on understanding your life purpose or destiny. He went on to say this was an exciting combination of two of the most significant learning experiences he had been blessed with in his life, namely journaling as a means of engaging in a two-way dialog with God, and coaching with a specific emphasis on the “discovery” of one’s life purpose and destiny.

Jerry went on to write, “Over 25 years ago, I was taught to journal as a means of hearing God’s voice by Dr. Mark Virkler, who has since become a good friend and ministry colleague. Mark developed a seminar that he continues to teach to this day around the world, called ‘Communion With God’.” I recommend you CLICK HERE to read Jerry’s entire email message. Jerry is one of the most experienced DESTINY coaches in the world.

Jerry’s email (that he hadn’t even sent out yet) prompted me to call Dr. Mark Virkler later that afternoon (June 9). This was the very first time I had ever spoken to or met Mark Virkler and what he shared was so inspiring. I discovered that Mark is one of the top teachers in the world about spiritual journaling. As I was showing Mark how I journal online and shared the amazing story about Habakkuk 2:2 from that morning, Mark told me Habakkuk 2:1-2 is the foundational scripture for his Communion With God Ministries.

Now that grabbed my attention. 3 times in one day the LORD brought the same scripture (Habakkuk 2:2) to my attention and from 3 different sources. So I was all ears as Mark shared his profound wisdom and insights with me. And Mark promptly followed up our conversation by sending two emails, including one titled “You Can Hear God’s Voice!”

Early the next morning (Tuesday June 10), I woke up with Holy Spirit’s instruction to immediately apply Mark’s “4 keys to hear God” and also design a new computer desktop image with those 4 keys. After typing my prayer with a 2-way dialog with God, I was astonished with the result – a deeper intimacy with the LORD.

It’s interesting to note that Holy Spirit had actually prompted Jerry to refer me to Mark two weeks earlier knowing we were soon launching our journaling course because he knew Mark well and that he was one of more experienced journalers in the world. However, as most of us frequently do, I failed to seize the opportunity at that time.

How many times have you missed GOLDEN OPPORTUNITIES because of failure to act in a timely fashion?

Prayer Power
LORD, you want each of us to learn to hear Your voice because You love us and have specific instructions to give us each day – not vague thoughts, but specific things You want us to know and to do. You know what works and what doesn’t. You want to take each of us to an entirely new level of abiding in You. You want us to experience Your love like never before. You want us to know that You’re not just here beside us, but You’re here to answer questions that we have. You have been waiting. Teach each of us to hear Your voice by applying Mark Virkler’s 4 simple keys. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Heavenly Father, here I go, writing out my spontaneous prayer early in the morning. I’m so excited to get back to what I’ve known for quite a while You want me to do. Forgive me for allowing all sorts of distractions to get in the way of this magnificent habit. Thank You for Your attention grabber yesterday with Habukkuk 2 and the UNCOMMON connection to Mark Virkler and his UNCOMMON message.

Thank You for waking me up early this morning knowing You wanted me to change my desktop background to include an image of Jesus, Mark Virkler’s 4 keys to hear from God, and Habukkuk 2:1-3. Thank You for each image of Jesus You led me to. Thank you Holy Spirit for using me as Your instrument to design the new image using Photoshop. I love it.

Jesus, I see You and hear You saying “You want to dine with me this morning and each day. You’re certainly welcome here in my home and wherever I go. I hear You saying “You want to start having two way conversations instead of one way ones. I hear You saying You’ve been waiting for this moment for so long.” I hear You saying “You’ve been knocking on the door of my heart – that You have the answers to the problems I’ve been facing and that the solutions are very simple. You have solutions to my financial difficulties.”

I hear you saying “Mark Virkler’s web page for Outstanding Links” is full of prospects and new contacts for you – people who have been waiting years to have God connect you to them.” I hear You saying, “Bless Mark – to open new vistas for him through social marketing.”

VISION: I see NEW HORIZONS OF OPPORTUNITIES opening for Mark as He steps into the Internet space age. I see Mark standing at the beach looking out at the ocean while a magnificent sunrise takes place. I see Mark fall to his knees and start to cry. This is what he has been waiting for. This is his MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH. I see people – lots of people starting to run up and surround Mark on the beach. So many people coming. They’ve been waiting to meet Mark. They want to just be near him. They want to learn from him. O God, I’m overwhelmed with what You are showing me. I’m overwhelmed by the joy on so may people’s faces.

Now I see the people around Mark beginning to sit down. Mark is starting to speak to them like You did, Jesus, for Your sermon on the mount. Now the people are eating while they listen. This is one of the most beautiful picnic scenes I have ever seen. So many people. Now more are coming. People are hungry for Your Word. They want to hear from You Jesus. This is what they’ve been waiting for. Overwhelming. Joy. Delight. Free thought. Freedom.

Now I hear You saying Jesus that “You want me to take everyone who signs up for Jerry and my 5 week online journaling course to go through something similar – to learn to hear God by following Mark’s 4 keys.”

I’m so excited. Thank You Jesus for showing this to me.

I hear You saying “You are going to open Mark’s eyes to the new horizons that WEBINARS will open for him. Not just doors, not just gates, but horizons of opportunities. I hear You saying “COVENANT with Mark!!!” You have knit our hearts together. You have been patiently waiting for this moment – for this opportunity to advance the Kingdom of God through the combination of journaling, coaching, and the web.

Praise be to God. Hallelujah. I receive. I will send this prayer to Mark this morning as You are telling me.

Now I see myself lying down to rest. You’re telling me go back to bed. Lay down. You’ve been obedient. My glory is upon You. People will be attracted to You because You will have the “AROMA OF CHRIST.” What you offer will be irresistible to so many people. Rest now. Rest. Peace be with you. My peace. Thank You for dining with me. I’ve really enjoyed this. Now you get it. It’s so easy. I’ve been waiting to have Mark teach you. You will never be the same. Thank You for your obedience – your UNCOMMON obedience. Thank You for acknowledging Me everywhere You go.

Jesus, I hear You say, “Cut and paste a specific verse from Proverbs 3 here now.”

Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Thank You for directing my paths. You’ve gotten me here. I’m Yours – all Yours. Dead to myself. Alive in You – only in You.

Jesus, I’m going to email this prayer to Mark now along with the background image for my desktop You helped me design this morning. Then I’ll go to bed. Thank You for being my good Shepherd – my friend. I love You. I bless You.

You can take one more step with your journaling…

Journaling is two lovers sharing love… speaking back and forth.

So you can write in the first person, as Jesus speaking directly to you and calling you by name. He will say, “my son, I want to you know…” so He is speaking in the first person to you… rather than the way you have it written… “I hear you saying that…”

It is just one more step of faith for you to take… not a hard thing… it will come naturally.

You really should read our books “how to hear God’s Voice” and Dialogue With God.” And perhaps order the CD’s also on How to Hear God’s voice.”

On June 18, 2008 the morning after the very first “UNCOMMON Journaling for Destiny” class, I began the “daily” habit of applying Mark’s 4 keys to hear from God. Here is what Jesus told me in response to the Day #1 destiny question:

Because I love You and I have specific instructions to give You each day – not vague thoughts, but specific things I want you to know and to do. Randy, I know what works and what doesn’t. I want to take you to an entirely new level of abiding in Me. I want you to experience My love like never before. I want You to know that I’m not just here beside You, but I’m here to answer questions that You have. I’ve been waiting.

All the things you’ve been praying and waiting for, I want to make happen. It was Me who put those desires in your heart. But first you had to learn to hear My voice. I know what order You are to do things, when You are to do things, what to do, and what not to do. I’m not a vague God. Just as you want your children to know clearly what you want them to do, so I want You to know clearly what I want You to to. I love You Randy. I want You to be married to Me, not just engaged. I can use you because You have a heart after my own heart. I’ve been preparing You. The time in NOW. Behold I do a new thing. My glory is upon You. My favor is upon You.

Jesus, I’m overwhelmed. This morning as I reflected back on yesterday, I realized all the breakthroughs that happened in just that one day. Then this morning, I have one of the most awesome days of my life. When Amy told me the Holy Spirit kept nudging her to pay for Beth Spangler, I was so grateful. Beth has been looking for and waiting for a friend like Amy for years. Thank You Jesus. Thank You.

Randy, this journaling course is more for you than it is for the participants. When I had Matt Gregory and Ben Stewart sign up as the first two people in the “UNCOMMON Journaling for Destiny” course, that was huge. You see, I’ve brought them into your life to be in covenant relationship with you for life. The greatest habit I have blessed you with is journaling and now I want to have you bless them with that habit. I want to take them to a much deeper abiding in Me. I want them to learn to hear My voice. Thank You, Randy, for obeying my recent instruction to listen to Julia.

#WFJ: Be faithful (committed) to this new habit

REST: I went to bed at 10:15 pm tired, fell asleep within 5-10 minutes, and slept like a baby until about 5 am. I lay still in bed resting and reflecting before Maui got me up at 5:35 am.

ABIDE: After feeding Maui and letting her outside briefly, I came to my new Sacred Place (basement family room). After praying on my knees for a few minutes, I sat down on the comfortable sofa. First I prayed through Psalm 91 several times, personalizing it for me, Julia and me, Caren and Robbie, Will Green, and Nancy Slocum. Then using my Kindle, I read Genesis 29-30 and Psalm 8.

I discovered that Laban gave his daughter Rachel to Jacob after he he had spent 7 days sleeping with Leah as his new wife. This was before he served Laban another 7 years. I also realized that Jacob deceived several people before the LORD changed his name, including his brother Esau, his father Isaac, and Laban. Later, after wrestling with God, God gave him a new name (Israel) and new identity.

The other thing I realized is that Rachel’s first son was Joseph and after he was born, Jacob departed from Laban to begin a new life.

Genesis 30:22-25 Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb. And she conceived and bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.” So she called his name Joseph, and said, “The LORD shall add to me another son.” And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own place and to my country.

Here is the prayer I wrote in my “Sacred Time – Sacred Place” journal:

My key word for 2011 is COMMITMENT.

My key scripture is “Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no’!” (James 5:12)

And the key question is “What will be your legacy?”

Jesus, thank You for guiding Julia and me not to go out for New Years, but rather to go to bed early and get up early to start the new year off well. Thank You for the past year, for guiding me through that, for all the valuable life lessons I learned, and for all the people I was able to bless and serve.

My prayer for this new year is simple. Help me to honor (pray to) you morning, noon, and night each day like Daniel did. Help me to abide in You in a deep and rich way daily that I might bear much fruit for the Kingdom and Your glory.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days. (Daniel 6:10)

Joseph, that is a wonderful prayer. That’s a great way to start off a new year. Be faithful (committed) to this new habit for the first 30 days (January) and that habit will become your routine. I have prepared you for an outstanding year in 2011. Do you part and I will do Mine. I AM your good Shepherd. I will protect you. During your quiet time 3x/day in January, I want you to read Psalm 91 3x/day. By the end of the month, you will have that memorized. Embrace and believe My promises of protection and deliverance. Your deliverance from the curses of Freemasonry was no small matter. Rejoice and BE exceedingly glad in Me and with Me. Bear much fruit.

He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit… (John 15:5, NASV)

Psalm 91 (NASV)

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty
2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!”
3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flies by day;
6 Or the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that lays waste at noon.
