Spiritually journaling is the best habit I have ever had in my life, bar none. And I’ve had a lot of good habits. I believe it will become yours too if you let it. Journaling helps ensure I pray, read the Bible, examine what it is saying, and SHARE nearly every day.

A fourth reason to journal is it helps keep your priorities in order. Journaling helps keep FIRST THINGS FIRST. Each of us has a jar of life filled with stuff, including big rocks (representing the important things), gravel (representing less important things), sand, and water. But if we don’t put the big rocks in first, then either they won’t fit in or when they go in they make a big mess.

A third reason to journal is it helps you remember what God has done when you write it down. Over and over again in the Bible, God told His people, “Remember!”

One of the best reasons to journal is that it helps you to SLOW DOWN, to meditate on the Word of God and to hear God’s quiet, still voice. God promises He will be exalted among the nations if we will just be still and know that He is God. God will be exalted in your home, neighborhood, church, business, and ministry when you are still and know I AM.

Let’s talk first about why you should journal. What are the benefits for you? Unless you’re convinced that journaling is going to make a big difference in your life, you’re likely to give up on this great habit before it’s firmly established. But when the “WHY” gets big enough, the “HOW” will work itself out.
